Operating as a visual scientist this work is an impossible experiment that examines the relationship between the contrasting and yet inter-dependent identities of the individuals in the group. Fragile glass spheres, evocative of the science laboratory are suspended in groups, which subsume the individuals identity – yet remind us of the unique configuration of identity embedded in the DNA molecule. On entering the room, the viewer surrounded by photographic depictions of the group, that initially forms in a crowd. However, inevitably the viewer is drawn toward the individual in the image without ever being able to disregard the powerful presence of the group.
